LSHTM logo London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, based in London, UK is one of the foremost schools of public health internationally. LSHTM’s mission is to contribute to the improvement of health worldwide through the pursuit of excellence in research, postgraduate teaching and advanced training in national and international public health and tropical medicine, and through informing policy and practice in these areas.

Evidence for Action includes LSHTM staff covering a wide range of disciplines, including clinical and social sciences, anthropology, demography, epidemiology, health economics, health policy, mathematical modelling, microbiology, public health, and statistics. It includes the largest group of academics in Europe working on HIV prevention, treatment and care in developing countries.

The School has a very strong history of ground-breaking, policy-relevant research in areas crucial to making progress towards the MDGs, and is very well known for its research on HIV and sexually transmitted infections in developing countries.

LSHTM is the lead partner of Evidence for Action, and is also a partner in five other DFID research programme consortia.
