Zambian AIDS-related Tuberculosis Project (ZAMBART), Lusaka, Zambia was started more than 15 years ago and became an independent Zambian NGO, based within the University of Zambia, in 2004. ZAMBART’s research focuses on the overlap between TB and HIV, and includes treatment and prevention trials, health systems research, diagnostics, health economics, anthropology and action-oriented operations research. ZAMBART regularly advises the Ministry of Health and the National AIDS Council on the expansion of HIV and tuberculosis services in Zambia. It is a leading TB/HIV research organization in Africa and is regularly invited to national and international policy meetings.
